In November 2023, banks will be closed for a total of 15 days in observance of the holiday calendar established by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). These holidays consist of recurring days off, including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. However, nine holidays on the RBI's calendar are designated as festive or gazetted. Certain bank holidays are of a regional nature and may vary between banks and states.
The Reserve Bank of India classifies three types of bank holidays in the nation as follows: holidays designated under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holidays designated under the Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays of the Negotiable Instruments Act, and banks' closing of accounts.
Banks will be closed on November 1 in Karnataka, Manipur, and Himachal Pradesh in observance of the Kannada Rajyothsava/Kut/Karva Chauth.
Due to the Wangala Festival, institutions in Agartala, Dehradun, Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, and Lucknow will be closed on November 10.
November 11-14 will be an extended weekend holiday in the majority of Indian states.
Due to the Diwali festival, institutions will be closed on November 13 and 14 in the majority of cities. Sunday is at 12 and the second Saturday is at 11.
Banks in certain states will observe Bhaidooj/Chitragupt Jayanti/Laxmi Puja (Deepawali), Ningol Chakkouba, and Bhratridwitiya on November 15.
Banks in Bihar and Chhattisgarh will be closed on November 20 in observance of the Chhath festival.
On November 23, banks in Uttarakhand and Manipur will be closed in observance of Seng Kutsnem/Egaas-Bagwaal.
In November, there will be another extended weekend. Additionally, banks will be closed on November 25-27 in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti/Karthika Purnima/Rahas Purnima and the fourth Saturday and Sunday alike.
On November 30, banks in Karnataka will be closed in observance of Kanakadasa Jayanti, as per the RBI calendar.
Throughout these days, ATM and Internet banking services will remain operational.
