Chhattisgarh CM transfers Rs 15 crore online to beneficiaries as part of Godhan Nyay Yojana

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reportedly distributed around Rs 15 crore to cattle-raisers, women's SHGs, and 'gauthan' committees via online transfer on August 5 as part of his government's flagship Godhan Nyay Yojna (GNY).

The money was reportedly moved at a party held at the CM's official residence.

In his remarks, Baghel said that the scheme had received praise from all around the country and that numerous governments had begun implementing similar initiatives.

The CM claimed that the programme has enhanced farmers' interest in raising cattle and helped SHG women become financially independent.

Of the total of Rs 15.29 billion, $5.60 billion was deposited into the bank accounts of cattle farmers in exchange for cow excrement sold by the farmers in gauthans (village-based day care facilities for livestock). According to a government source from the state, "Rs 9.69 crore was given to gauthan committees and women SHGs which are associated with gauthans under the scheme."

In July of 2020, the state government announced the GNY initiative, through which cow dung is purchased at gauthans for Rs 2 per kilogramme and then used to make vermicompost.

According to the official, a grand total of Rs 541.66 crore has been distributed to GNY recipients as of this writing. A year ago in July, the state government began purchasing cow urine at a rate of 4 rupees a kilogramme. PTI TKP It's a BNM.
