India’s installed wind energy capacity to rise to 99.9GW by 2029-30
By 2030, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy aims to have 500 GW of installed electrical capacity from non-fossil sources, including wind energy.
Delhi, India: According to RK Singh, India's Union minister for new and renewable energy and electricity as of 30 June 2023, the country's installed capacity for wind energy has reached an astounding 43,773 MW.
During the fiscal year 2022-23, wind energy accounted for a sizable portion of the country's total electricity generation at 71,814 MU.
The minister responded in writing to a query in the Rajya Sabha, stating, "The installed wind energy generation capacity of the country was 43,773 MW, as of 30th June 2023." In the fiscal year 2022–23, 71,814,000,000 MWh of electricity were produced in the country from wind power.
Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana were the leading wind energy producing States in 2022-23, he said.The minister reported that the ministry of new and renewable energy is trying to achieve 500 GW of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil sources by the year 2030, and that this goal includes wind energy capacity. This is in keeping with the prime minister's announcement at COP26.
The Central Electricity Authority predicts that by the end of 2029-30, the installed capacity of wind energy will have reached 99,895 MW, as stated in their 'Report on Optimal Generation Capacity Mix for 2029-30 Version 2.0.
